ROMAN RHETORIC

 

The gathering on the 30th of March 2017 was again held in lecture hall 272 and was dedicated to the topic of Roman judicial rhetoric. A guest lecturer appearance was made by assoc. prof. Eliya Marinova, PhD, a leading expert in the field of Roman literature from the period of the I-IV century AD. Assoc. prof. Marinova presented a report about two of the speeches of the infamous Roman lawyer and statesman Marcus Tullius Cicero – Pro Sexto Roscio Amerino and Orationes In Catilinam. Afterwards the short film Murder in Rome, which follows the story of Cicero's first ever court trial as a lawyer, was projected to the audience.
