ANNOUNCE

THE FIRST SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH COMPETITION FOR YOUNG SCHOLARS ON

"ROMAN LAW AND ROMAN LEGAL TRADITION IN MODERN LAW"

 

The Competition  is held annually and it is addressed to young scholars who can participate with their own scientific research – students, PhD candidates and assistant professors below the age of 35 years from the Faculties of Law in Bulgaria and the other member-states of the "S.I.R" Association   as well as young scholars from other universities who are recommended by the honorary members of "S.I.R."

In 2017 the Competition is organized under the patronage of the Sofia University Faculty of Law's Dean – Prof. Dr. Sasho Penov – within the framework of the Celebration of the 125-th Anniversary of the Faculty.

The competitors are divided in three groups in accordance with competitors' degree of education – I group - students from 1st and 2nd year; II group - students from 3rd to 5th year (bachelor and master degrees); III group - PhD candidates and assistant professors below the age of 35.

The scientific research should be presented in the form of papers of individual authors or co-authored papers not later than September 15, 2017.

The papers will be evaluated by a Review Committee, consisting of the Dean Prof. Dr. Penov and  the S.I.R.'s Board Members.

The scientific conference, the announcement of the ranking and awarding of the winners will be held at Sofia University in the second half of October, 2017. The date will be additionally announced to the participants.

The paper submission requirements are:

- Paper size, co-authored papers including, should not exceed 10 standard pages (1800 characters with spaces);

- Formatting requirements:

• Title: Times New Roman, size 14, Bold, Centered, Caps Lock

• Author's name and surname , academic title and degree (if any), faculty, university, country: Times New Roman, size 12, Bold, Align Right;

• Author's e-mail address for contact: in footnote, Times New Roman, size 10, Regular, Justified;

• Abstract in the language of the paper (Bulgarian, English, French, Italian, Spanish) and in English: 1 standard page (1800 characters with spaces), Times New Roman, size 12, Italic;

• Keywords following the abstract (no more than 10) in the language of the paper and in English: Times New Roman, size 12, Italic;

• Full text of the paper: Times New Roman, size 12, Regular, Justified, line spacing 1.5;

• Page Numbering: Times New Roman, size 10, Bottom of page, Plain Number 3;

• Footnotes: numbering starts from 1 using Arabic numerals and follows through the entire document, , Times New Roman, size 10, Regular, Justified.

Referencing Requirements:

• Books: Author's surname , initials (the same requirements for the names of the co-authors, if they are no more than three. For more than three authors, description should be made under the title, and authors should be listed after the title). Title of the book. Place of publication, publisher name, year published, pages;

• Papers from journals: Author's surname, initials (the same requirements as for the books). Title of the paper. Following a dash : the title of the journal [in italics], year published, pages;

• Papers, reports and other publications, published in compendiums: Author's surname, initials (the same requirements as for books). Title of the paper/report. Following a dash : The title of the compendium [in italics]. Place of publication, publisher name, year pubished, pages;

• Dictionary entries : Author's surname , initials (the same requirements as for the books). Title of the dictionary. Place of publication, publisher name, year published, volume, pages;

• Electronic Resources: Title of the website, URL address, date of last visit.

 

The papers should be sent to ius.romanum@abv.bg . The topics could be focused on any issues, related to the Roman law and the Roman legal tradition in modern public and private law.

The papers will be published in special conference proceedings on the site Ius Romanum in the form they were sent, without editorial modification.
